We are licensed in the state of North Carolina for both residential and commercial work. We hold an “unlimited” license, which means that we have demonstrated to the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors that we possess the qualifications and are financially stable enough to handle projects of any size. Though we are licensed for commercial work, our niche is the building of finely detailed custom homes, from craftsman style bungalows to very large homes.

THE DUCKER CABIN
Project: Renovation of existing log home as future office of Thompson-Rhodes Builders, Inc.

The Ducker cabin is a charming little log cabin built by Judy Rhodes’ grandfather, Will Rhodes, and great uncle, Solon Ducker, from locally harvested and hand hewn logs in 1950. The logs are poplar, and the interior framing is mostly oak. It is a very solid little cabin, and is in great shape structurally. Judy’s great aunt Minnie Ducker lived in the cabin until just recently when it became available for purchase. We are in the process of renovating the cabin to update the utilities and bring it up to “Energy Star” standards. The only changes that will be visible from the outside will be the addition of two dormers in the front and one in the back to create more usable space upstairs. Every effort will be made to maintain the original charm of this family heirloom. Once the renovations are complete, the Ducker cabin will house the offices of Thompson-Rhodes Builders, Inc. We look forward to serving our clients from this lovely location.
